Padron on Sat Sep 20 11:42:48 2003, in response to Re: R10 Questions, Actually, the GE R-10's still were in service until they were finally removed on November 10, 1988, a mere ten days before the fleet's actual 40th anniversary of its revenue service debut. After that, the 110 WH Green R-10's had been remaining in service, but the first wave of the retirements for those GOH'd units began slowly in March, 1989 for the following next six months or so.
