[ Read Responses | Post a New Response | Return to the Index ] Posted by aem7 on Mon Nov 17 13:41:01 2003, in response to MVM's Run Windows (2 Pics ~170k), You might be shocked and horrified to learn that many things now run Windows, including not so safety critical things like the LED signs now appearing on top of many cabs... but also safety critical things like traction motor power control, and signalling system on MNCW. Yes, signalling system -- despite MS's claim that NT is "not a real time operating system". I am sure they have done all sort of custom coding (including removing unnecessary modules from the NT kernel), but it's still running NT. The other OS's by the way (BSD or Linux) are not much better in terms of their stability or security. AEM7 Responses
