York Street's tile goes a little more than halfway up the wall due to the low rounded ceiling. It's a different tube design than, say, High Street is. It looks like that's all the room they had to put a tile band in. They used the running bond for the white tile, so the only place they could put the captions (4 1/4" tile) was where the only other 4 1/4" tiles were, and that was over the purple tile band.
