AFAIK, I always heard the IRT extensions were done in the 30's, and Wayne has indeed confirmed that the IRT IS actually a play on the IND with an added flair, not the other way around, like I was trying to determine.
York also always had me puzzled. I was a regular user of Jay Street for years, so past York everyday. It's one of the most unique stations in the system. I can't answer your question, but hope this time someone can (I remember when you brought it up the first time).
