By the date of February 14, 1986, there were 110 overhauled green-painted R-10's that were completed, plus about another 150 or so graffitied R-10's that were either still operating in revenue service and/or on NYCTA property. By the date of November 10, 1988, all of the graffitied units were all removed from service. The phasing out of the green R-10's into retirement began sometime during the second week of March 1989 with car #3193 as the first one reported as being "officially" removed out of service.
