Logic would think all stations on both sides of a crossover and or pocket track should be a potential terminal station. However I think it’s not possible because there are only 100 codes available 00 through 99

They should also have these generic readings available:
RED LIME
BLUE LINE
ORANGE LINE
YELLOW LINE
GREEN LINE
PURPLE LINE
SIVLER LINE
OUTBOUND
INBOUND
DOWNTOWN DC

I like your idea. However their might be some trouble working them in because the destination codes are also used to route trains to terminal stations. The only way I thing it could be done is to separate or add an override for the sign controls from the routing controls.

I have some pictures that show the head sign on the front car sign displaying line color only ie RED, BLUE, BLUE GREEN and YELLOW along with the color icon.
