That was still the rule in the early 70's when I had my tin and tools. Last time I was in the city and saw the green pawnbroker sign for the first time, I commented on "what the PHUCK is that?" to several folks I was with who looked at me like I'd never been on a subway before. :)

Imagine, we're a dying breed, brother ... we're among those Ex-TA people that remember when we were TRUSTED to use our meat-roms. Heh.
