It had wooden escalators, including the one from the main floor to the bargain basement. But Mandel's also had a super bargain basement below the regular bargain basement. The escalator did not have steps; it was a hinged wooden ramp with raised slats to anchor yourself to. I wonder what ever became of it. Responses
