Was the MTA operate buses and subways only to be profitable, there would be far less service. Few night and weekend service. Shorter bus routes and lower salaries for drivers and train operators. The MTA would have no problem filling bus driver positions with the army of immigrants who would work for far less then the current MTA staff. But on the flip side the level of safety, professionalism and reliablity would be at all time lows
