Franklin Square being in the block between 6th, 7th, Race, and Vine Streets (across 6th Street from the Kite & Key statue at the Philadelphia foot of the Ben Franklin Bridge). Was a relatively useless stop, merely two blocks from the Chinatown Station on the Broad-Ridge Spur, and used almost never by NJ commuters. It's not really near anything; the federal buildings on 6th Street are closer to Market, and between 6th and 7th... people could ride to 8th Street Station and walk one block east to get there faster than walking from 6th and Race.

About the only purpose the stop served was for people to get off to go to the park or to the WHYY studio.
