Some started to, but they were convinced by station personel. You know, you have a huge group of citizens who were not around when the last R1/9 ran in regular service. Either they didn't live here then, or in a lot of cases, they were not even born.

It's been 27 years since the last R9s ran in service. Close to 20 years since they even operated in work service. That's a long time.

The best passengers were the teenagers. Three teenaged girls, couldn't have been more than 15, sat next to me. They had the nerve to be nervous about it. They were commenting about the type of lights on the trains and wanted to know what were those fans doing in the ceiling.

Their reaction was really funny when I had to explain to them that that was the "a/c" of the time, since there was no real air conditioning back in "those" days. Makes you think how we take certain things for granted.
