Holy $h!t that was impressive! I'm glad I didn't have the volume on the stereo too high. That bang just crashed through 0dB - it flew right out of the WAV file's dynamic range. A train of R10s must have been great fun if several cars were misbehaving. It was better than the PCC spinning wheel sound (I've had the pleasure of hearing that one live numerous times, once while well, nevermind :) which was neat but pretty benign compared to the R10 sound, it just indicated that at least one axle on the streetcar was spinning - just lift foot off the power pedal and wait for it to grab again and go (low acceleration at first)...
