No, the Transit Police, later the Transportation Bureau, and finally the Transit Bureau are responsible for police protection on the subway system, not on the transit system as a whole.

It appears that the bus system isn't patrolled systematically, but only when an officer happens to be traveling somewhere by bus. (And since they can effectively park wherever they like with impunity, they don't often travel by bus.)

Recall that I was the victim of physical assault on the M60 bus in January.
