[ Read Responses | Post a New Response | Return to the Index ] Posted by Wayne-MrSlantR40 on Tue May 18 13:45:21 2004, in response to Re: Evolution of NYC Subway Tile, Regarding the 8th Avenue BMT station mosaic - they made ONE major mistake with this installation - they allowed the tile pattern in the frieze to repeat itself. If they kept with tradition (which they DID at places like Jefferson St, Halsey St, 6th Ave in the mezzanine), they would have set the frieze in the random "crazy quilt" pattern referred to by Lee Stookey in her Subway Ceramics book.
