Thanks for the info. I'm definitely more of a "BMT-IND" guy, and didn't realize the IRT had orange doors long after the B division did. A sure fired clue to me should have been the thing over the windows that had something to do with the doors. I know the R30's only got that after the GOH, so I would assume the IRT cars only got that too after the GOH.
I only started to ride the IRT regularly around 1990, mostly on the 6. I am amazed when you say the R36ML kept orange doors into around 1995 because I have absolutely NO recollection of it at all on the 4,5,6. I rode the Lexington line for three straight years from 1990 to 1993, and really don't remember it at all. Were they confined to the the West Side line which I only rode occasionally at the time? I can't believe I am drawing a blank on this.
