The Yellow Line only has one outbound side to it and does not need short turns. The Blue Line branches are equal enough so that demand is met on both sides, as far as I know. The Orange line has some trippers but again, they meet demand. In theory, WFC to Stadium-Armory trains could exist if there were to be a car shortage. The Red Line already has short turns, though if enough cars were available, trains should run from Silver Spring or Glenmont to Shady Grove (eliminate Grosvenor as a terminal). Ridership is much heavier on the Shady Grove side than the Silver Spring side. In a severe car shortage, one could even run short turns from Grosvenor to Union Station and still meet demand. The Green Line could really use short turn trains running between Branch Avenue and somewhere in DC, either Mount Vernon Square, Fort Totten, or U Street. (There are no responses to this message.)
