Per the January 1, 1946-June 30, 1949 Board of Transportation annual report, Crosstown Trolley Coach and Car Depot opened in July 1949 to serve 78 trolley coaches and 60 trolley cars. It probably served around 150 buses at a time in its heyday. The depot closed in the early 1980s because service had been reduced to a point where the other five Brooklyn depots (East New York, Flatbush, Fresh Pond, Fifth Avenue {now replaced on-site by Jackie Gleason}, and Ulmer Park) could handle the fleet. Of course, service has increased over the past couple of years as the fare incentives have taken effect, leaving the remaining facilities at or over capacity.
