The bridge did not completely close after opening for marine traffic and snarled service until about 2:45pm. Thistook one of our round trips to Howard Beach off the intenerary. However, we made an unexpected return to Far Rockaway, then went back to Rockaway park, so the R1/9s could be in the "pulling" posiion for the trp back to 207th Street. The bridge opened to marine traffic three times on Saturday; we didn't get back to Columbus Circle until it was close to 7pm.

We had heard from operators along the line that the South Channel Bridge got stuck on Thursday as well, and that took 5 hours to resolve!
