I seem to recall more than one BX being rebuilt before the TA decided to eliminate that car classification. The BMT rule on BXs was no more than one BX per train even if it was 8 cars, no single BXs to operate in passenger service and no BXs to operate in trains running over the Manhattan Bridge which is supposed to be the steepest grade on the system. I have been told by some BMT old timers, however, that if it was necessary, a BX would be rerouted over the Manny B but no BXs were to be assigned to lines using the bridge. By the way, some of the 4000 seies trailers were equipped with M/Ms controls at at least one end of the car and coupled to a single 2400 series car as an AX for use on the original 14 St line between 6 Av Manh and Montrose Av.
