Ah, yes - nothing says "IRT" like a nice Heins-LaFarge cut-marble tapestry. Too bad there are so few left - 72nd Street and Central Park North are the only ones I can think of that remain. The all-orange treatment at Bowling Green is SO loud; the off-white columns do absolutely nothing to soften it. Since doing fine mosaic work in cut-marble tile has become a rediscovered art, it shouldn't be too much of a problem to recreate these.

Weren't the ones at Grand Central destroyed in the fire of 4/21/1964?
