The Franklin Ave shuttle is single track from south of Park Place to Franklin. Based on current schedules and conditions, only two trainsets can use the 4 station stretch. Had they not go into revenue service, the MOD train would be single tracking both ways and take up 5 minutes, serverly disrupting existing schedules on the FAS. So, in order to accomodate this, one of the two current 2-car trainsets on the FAS route was taken OOS and put on temeporary lay-up status just south of Prospect Park while the excursion train came in and took over the schedule for 2 trips (a 3rd round trip was added at the last minute because of the switch problem I stated in the trip report.). Once the trips on the MOD train were done, it was OOS for passengers, left a few minutes later, while the R68 trainset that was in lay-up, returned into PP for active service as usual.

They cannot have 3 trainsets on the FAS route.
