I know that they started installing WHITE phosphor lamps on the IRT and on the 32's, and it looked AWFUL. WAY too bright for one, and the ends started turning black pretty quickly on them as well. Fluorescents don't LIKE DC, although the older green ones didn't seem to show it as noticeably as their bright white replacements did. The greens were nice. The whites, not so. :)
