Also, in terms of crowdedness, I sometimes take a BMT uptown from 14th Street in the morning rush. The W is full but not a sardine can like the IRT. The and (Q) are worse. The N and R are better, but they've had a chance to unload many of their passengers downtown by the time they get to 14th (whereas the W and Q have only stopped at Canal in Manhattan).
