Certain people worship the methods of mathematical analysis. If it works on paper, he thinks it must work in practice. Believe me, I've had to deal with these people in sports related newsgroups. According to many of them, Mo Vaughn is no better than Todd Zeile. They produce numbers which make this ridiculous assertion look correct.
