Yes, that what I said, the 6th Ave subway replaced the 6th Ave El.

Question, In the interim, was there extra bus or trolley service on 6th Ave. It has always been a busy street.

After King Kong took down the structure outside the Hippodrome, it was all downhill for the 6th Ave El.

Another rememberance of the 6th Ave El, I saw a 20s post card showing Trinity Church and a good sized park next (south) to the church.
In the background was the El Station and structure.

Never having seen the 6th or 9th Avenue Els, there are probably some very interesting operational and engineering aspects of the lines.
The 9th Ave Line was the first iron (steel) elevated railway anywhere.
