Many moons ago, when I lived in Queens, I remember the Q3a(now 83), the Q4a(now 84) and the TWO Q5a's-Huxley St and Bedell St branches. My question is this, what was the purpose of the Bedell St branch, and why did they renamed it Q5AB instead if maybe Q5B?

Then you had the Q5a Laurelton Shuttle(Q5aLS-which died in the 80`s), and the Q5s which became the Q86 and then died in the 80`s. What was the purpose of these routes?

Then finally before all of the changes caused by the Parson-Archer opening, the TA merged the two Q5a, and Q5ab runs into the Q85. Why did they use the 80 series numbers in identifying these routes?
