Wayne - were those MSBA 5310As numbered from something like 800-850? If those are the ones you?re thinking of, I used to ride them between Hempstead and Jamaica. That was during the first gas crisis (around 1974) while I was a student at Hofstra. ?P?If you found those impressive, you would have gotten a kick out of the 5301s that were in service for Stage Coach Lines and Mid Island Transit. I had to transfer from the Bee Line route (well back then it was Bee Line not connected in any way to current Westchester Bee Line) at Hempstead bus terminal to the Hempstead Turnpike bus - to reach Hofstra. Those 5301s were in pathetic condition - obvious victims of bad maintenance for many years.
