Yes, that was a real mess. At that time, my home route (871) operated out of RTD's Division 5 (South Central) which had 55 Grummans. The following Monday after the Grummans were pulled, they cancelled the tripper I usually rode to school, so me and a bunch of other people had to crowd on to the following run (staffed by a 1970 Flxible). Fortunately, RTD had begun to put into service a week earlier the first of 940 GMC RTS-04s, and between those and bringing back some recently retired buses (including some 25+ year old Old Looks!) brought the fleet back up within a couple months. The Grummans began returning in May, 1981.
